'Byzantine' presentation by Lori Weitzner

Yesterday we had the pleasure to be invited to the launch of 'Byzantine' by Lori Weitzner for Sahco. Lori's inspiration, passion and creativity is so obvious whilst talking through her latest collection. Sumptuous textures of silks that are of the highest quality and have that rustle and crispness to make beautiful curtains and drapes; textures with stitch quilting which look fabulous upholstered or for pillows; all in wonderful creams, pale golds, through to sage and terracotta; sheers that have a vertical washed stripe like a rainbow that compliment the collection where the colour is airbrushed across the sheer so you are unable to see exactly where the next colour ends or starts. Thanks to Cliff Mitchell and Hendrik Dreyer from Sahco for their kind hospitality and delicious brunch with Processeco.

Lady Gaga has a Birkin moment

arriving at Tokyo's Narita International Airport yesterday; carrying a bag that was defaced using a black marker to read "I love small monster, Tokyo Love" was not at all surprising. The fact that she had those relatively neatly written Japanese characters written on a white Hermes Birkin bag (with gold hardware, no less) was OMG Gaga! Or does she just have an Asian tour guide who whispered in her ear that Asian ladies - in particular the Japanese ilk, love them! I'm kind of loving the fact that she scrawled all over it; two parts of Gaga craziness (the other one with the arm tattoos) who knows maybe she'll put it up for auction at a later date for charity.

Property news 'Spring has arrived'

The Sunday press reveal today that there is a 10% rise on the property market in the last year. Hopefully this will restore some confidence back into home-owners; if so why not think about that refurbishment project you have been putting off, whether it's new curtains, decoration or a total interior design project. Now all the new exciting Spring collections have been launched it is a great time to start getting motivated for a new look. My website will give you an insight to my interior design work and remember to take a look at my stockist page for all your fabrics, wallpapers, furniture and lighting. Andrew Wright Interiors

'Cilindro' Bedside Cabinet from J. Robert Scott

I love this Cilindro side table from J. Robert Scott; when working on furniture layout plans where I have the luxury of space either side of the bed these are a real WOW factor and different from the normal rectangular bedside table. Put tall decorative lamps on the top with pleated chiffon shades to get that chic sexy look. Shown above with a Sunburst veneered top, floating acrylic shelf, polished stainless steel interior, castors and the part I love is, it rotates on a swivel base should not wish to see your books etc. It is also available in other veneers. Visit their showroom at Chelsea Harbour Design Centre London and see other chic furniture and sumptuous textiles and lighting. Please feel free to contact me should you require any further information or images. Andrew Wright Interiors

Philippe Stark in Venice

The grand Palazzina Grassi hotel opens in the wonderful romantic city of Venice; designed by Philippe Stark, a world-class designer, he's a first rate cultural provocateur; conveying messages through bold gestures; this his first hotel in Italy. Every guest room has walls hung with over-scaled mirrors; all are backlit with LED lighting. "Mirrors have always been in the collective thought of Venetians" says Emaneule Garosci the young, hip owner of the hotel. This hotel is in a perfect position on the Grand Canal, yet away from the busy San Marco. The best time to visit this hotel and other wonderful historic places like the famous Guggenheim museum is in January as the tourists are not around! Visit www.palazzinagrassi.it

Croco Loco & Napa Loco at Edelman leather

Check out this amazing range of leathers
at Edelman leather in London's Chelsea Harbour.
I love this product to leather wrap doors that need a face lift or a masculine look for a gentleman's study. Edelman's Crocodile drawing is by Andy Warhol, circa 1960. They filled him with Tequila, dressed him in wonderful colours of leather and called him 'Croco Loco'; a party was then held to celebrate the new collection 'Croco Loco'. For further information or samples please do not hesitate to contact me or go to their website www.edelmanleather.com

Loving the 'Coco' wall lights

These wonderful new wall lights are from Contardi Italy; they are named after the famous 'Coco' Chanel as they were specified for all the Chanel boutique stores around the world. The shades can be made in any material and look stunning with the mirrored back plate. I would use these on a mirrored wall, mirror on mirrors looks so chic and amazing. They also come as table lamps. If you require any further information or to place an order on these wonderful wall lights or other 'Coco' products please drop me a line.

ARRESTING NEWS 'Snow White & the Seven Designers prepare to take the stage!

Well once again it’s time for us London Interior Designers to get started on our rehearsals for this year’s charity pantomime in October which is being produced by the wonderful Russell Penn. This year we are sponsoring Dementia UK and are performing a rather classic performance of Snow White with a twist: you’ll have to come and see us to find out what it is! I am one of the seven designers alias ‘Snappy’ along with Joanna Wood as ‘Classy’, Justin Van Breda as ‘Taupey’, Charlotte Lane Fox as ‘Snazzy’, Emma Burns as ‘Natty’, Lavinia Dargie as ‘Dapper’ and Trevor Pickett as 'Dizzy'. These are to name but a few, watch out for the rehearsal updates and performance information.

Happy Anniversary Maya Romanoff Design

Last week the museum of Arts & Design in New York celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Maya Romanoff and the launch of 3 Tie Dye wallcoverings. I am a huge fan of Maya Romanoff as they are renowned for their knowledge of ancient craft techniques and ability to synthesize environments with the resonant beauty of handmade, utilitarian materials that range from paper and felt, to mica and glass beads. They aren't the cheapest but give that wow factor to any scheme, if you're on a budget then use it on a feature wall or lining of niches. Pierre Frey London are hosting a celebration party; keep watching for the after party update. For further information or samples please do not hesitate to contact me.

Amazing New Wallcoverings

The new stunning collection from Ulf Moritz has been launched at Brian Yates of London's Chelsea Harbour. These wonderful over scale prints on wallpaper make fantastic feature walls; I would then use the plain wallpaper that compliments for the other walls. With this particular colourway you have the option to keep it tonal or add sumptuous greens and pinks as accents. If you would like any further advice or to order any of Ulf's wonderful wallpapers, please do do not hesitate to contact me.

Spring at Cliveden

A wonderful experience; instantly you get the feeling of grandeur and remarkable English heritage waiting to be discovered. It was designed by Charles Barry in 1850 and in latter years owned by the famous Astor family who resided at Cliveden from 1893-1967; now owned by by The National Trust and the hotel is part of the Von Essen hotel collection.

On entering 'The Great Hall' where we were greeted with priceless paintings, suited armour and tapestry hangings along with a warm welcome from the front of house team members. My bedroom suite was named after the legendary Joyce Grenfell; beautifully decorated with a traditional antique armoire filled with a china dinner service, cream and green trellis wallpaper dressed with traditional festoon blinds in a cream/green/terracotta floral print overlooking the 'Pavilion' spa and gardens; this décor very much reminded me of my days working for the famous 'Colefax & Fowler' who are renowned for their traditional floral prints and wallpapers.

I always use Paint & Paper Library or Farrow & Ball who specialise in architectural and English heritage paint palettes, these work much better with traditional schemes when you need more earthy tones.

If you need any advice on traditional interior design or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me on my mobile or email address where I will be happy to help you.
