Spring at Cliveden

A wonderful experience; instantly you get the feeling of grandeur and remarkable English heritage waiting to be discovered. It was designed by Charles Barry in 1850 and in latter years owned by the famous Astor family who resided at Cliveden from 1893-1967; now owned by by The National Trust and the hotel is part of the Von Essen hotel collection.

On entering 'The Great Hall' where we were greeted with priceless paintings, suited armour and tapestry hangings along with a warm welcome from the front of house team members. My bedroom suite was named after the legendary Joyce Grenfell; beautifully decorated with a traditional antique armoire filled with a china dinner service, cream and green trellis wallpaper dressed with traditional festoon blinds in a cream/green/terracotta floral print overlooking the 'Pavilion' spa and gardens; this décor very much reminded me of my days working for the famous 'Colefax & Fowler' who are renowned for their traditional floral prints and wallpapers.

I always use Paint & Paper Library or Farrow & Ball who specialise in architectural and English heritage paint palettes, these work much better with traditional schemes when you need more earthy tones.

If you need any advice on traditional interior design or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me on my mobile or email address where I will be happy to help you.
